I do have other entries to write, but because I can't be arsed at the moment...:D I'm offering a meme.

1. Do you have any pets? If so, how many, and what are their names?
Orion Rising boasts five non-human residents: four reasonably well-behaved cats - Beanies, Henna, Cleo, and Seamus and one noisy cockatiel - Schroeder.

2. What was your very first pet? Do you remember its name?
I think my parents had a tri-coloured cat called Missy when I was very small, but the first cat I remember being ours was a grey tabby called 'Kitty' in Frankfurt. We had to leave her behind, sadly. She'd had kittens in a sack full of peat moss.

3. Is there an animal you would never have as a pet?
I would never have a pterodactyl, because they are extinct.

4. What common pet have you always wanted but never had? Why not?
I suppose I'll say 'a lizard'. When I was small, we had another cat who would occasionally bring us lizards, and I could keep them till sundown if I caught them - but that was never actually having a lizard. Scaly and slimy things fascinate me, but I'm afraid I've never had terribly much luck with them. Schuyler, a newt I had whilst at school, committed suicide. I think that should tell me something. I wonder whether they're somehow evolved from plants...

5. What wild animal (extinct or not) would you own if you didn't have to worry about its adjustment or the cost of captivity?
Erm...a zebra might be interesting, or a gazelle. However, I'll admit to not understanding prey animals very well. I know people who keep rabbits, and it's always puzzled me how to entertain a rabbit. Any sort of creature whose play hones its hunting skills - those I understand. A dog will chase a ball, a cat will chase a string, a snake is...jewellery - which I also understand. But how does one play with a rabbit (you know, that doesn't involve terrifying it)--sure it's a mystery.

An ocelot - there's an idea. They're large enough to be interesting, yet not so large as to need their own keys to the house, and they've got spots. Who wouldn't fancy a cat with spots?
